What sets IRMA apart as an institution is its distinctive combination of multiple qualities rather than being limited to a single defining feature. The narrative of IRMA is spellbinding, captivating your imagination, and stirring compassion for the underprivileged strata of our society. Ultimately, it ignites your desire to apply the knowledge and skills acquired through a comprehensive management education to foster their advancement and well-being. IRMA was founded in December 1979 by Dr Verghese Kurien, renowned as the ‘Milkman of India,’ with initial support from the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC), the former Indian Dairy Corporation (IDC), and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to address the professional requirements of the White Revolution. While firmly rooted in its original mandate, IRMA aims to expand its reach by committing to value-based educational programs and diverse research and consulting initiatives for entities representing Market, State, and Civil Society. For the last 44 years, IRMA has been a trailblazer in management education, particularly emphasizing what is commonly referred to as subsistence marketplaces or the base of the economic pyramid. During this time, it has welcomed over 4,000 students from across India and neighbouring South Asian nations. IRMA provides postgraduate and doctoral-level academic programs in management.
