IRMA_PGDRM Prospectus 2021-2023

Summer Internship Segment (SIS) Duration of the Summer Internship Segment (SIS) is ten weeks and is worth eight credits. It is held after the third term of the classroom segment and in the beginning of the second year of the programme. The SIS term comprises three components: (i) Evaluation by Faculty Guide, (ii) Presentation of SIS report, and (iii) Evaluation by host organisation. Summer Internship Segment (SIS) exposes participants to the functioning of organizations and gives them an opportunity to apply, test, and polish skills acquired in the classroom. Participants develop practical skills and gain a realistic idea of the managerial functions of rural organizations. SIS helps participants develop key abilities required on the job: working effectively with others, thinking and acting positively, learning to manage people, and improving written and oral communication skills. SIS would also likely to help the participants grab pre- placement offers. There is an optional component, namely, Faculty Participant Collaboration Research (FPCR). The ESV is designed in such a way to get the requisite exposure to the participants towards rural demography, society, economy, polity, and culture. The participants get opportunity to study the local resources, institutions, governance, and other aspects of human development and sustainability. The OTP is a theme-based study which the participants need to figure out themselves in the village and it must be related to one of the key challenges in the village. The RAC is a small component assigned and mentored by the local host organization. IRMA faculty members interact closely with participants at all stages of the fieldwork segment. The evaluation of VFS is based on the three mandatory components: for which the participants submits a report and give two presentations: (i) at the local host organization on RAC and (ii) Presentation at IRMA on ESV and OTP. The FPCR is the optional component in VFS which is a mutually agreed research topic floated by IRMA faculty for which students may like to collaborate and undertake part of the field work during the VFS. The report related to FPCR component goes as an entry in Grameen Gyan Kosh and subsequently, depending on the interest of concerned faculty and participants can find other outlets. However, this is not included under VFS credits. Admissions Prospectus PGDM (RM) | 2021-23 17
