IRMA_PGDRM Prospectus 2021-2023

Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) was established in 1979 by Dr. Verghese Kurien, the Father of the White Revolution in our country. The philosophy behind the Institute was simple: professionalizing management of organizations that serve the underserved segment of our economy. It is that collective population that IRMA strives to serve through its Graduates. The Institute’s unique strength lies in its ability to blend development concerns with a management aptitude DIRECTOR SPEAKS through its endeavors. Over the last 40 years, IRMA’s flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Rural Management), or PGDM (RM) has produced over 3500 nation builders and global leaders, equipped to deal with the unique challenges in their quest to fulfill Dr. Verghese Kurien’s dream. The programme’s unique segments like the Classroom Segments, the Induction Fieldwork Segment (IFS), the Village Fieldwork Segment (VFS), and the industry-oriented Summer Internship Segment (SIS) are geared towards providing a holistic approach to management education. Over two generations have changed in the last four decades. The aspirations, mindsets, and behaviour have also changed, and yet year-after-year, IRMA attracts the best aspirants and the best organizations for placements. It is a testament to the fact that IRMA is on the right path to growth and development. The high pedigree of faculty members and the teaching-learning processes further ensure that IRMA continues to be on its way to creating a better tomorrow. Nowhere was it more apparent than in the recent past when the COVID-19 pandemic threatened the Institute’s academic processes. But it was because of the sheer strength of the faculty, the Institute’s e-learning software and infrastructure and the brilliant participants of the PGDM (RM) that the classroom sessions and other activities were back on track in no time. We were honoured to have the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu ji as the Chief Guest for our 40th Foundation Day celebration on 14th December 2019. He said that IRMA was working to build an India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Mahatma Gandhi had dreamed of. He appreciated IRMA for having a multi-faceted and multi-pronged approach to rural management education and research. He also urged the IRMA participants to prepare, challenge themselves, and strive to make India’s growth story more inclusive and focus on Personal Social Responsibility (PSR). This dedication to professionalizing rural management education while working on the principles laid down by Dr Kurien is a part of our DNA. I am sure it will continue to be so for not just the next 10 years, but 40 years and beyond! I invite you to be a part of the PGDM (RM) programme and take your first step on a transformative journey.
