Dr. Klaus Deininger (Lead Economist, Rural Development Group at the World Bank, Washington D.C.)
Klaus visited the RBI Endowment Unit to collaborate with RBI Chair Prof. Hari K. Nagarajan on the planning of the Economics Profile of Rural Households in India (EPRI). Additionally, as part of his research on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), Klaus took part in field testing in villages of Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu.
Esther Gehrke (Research Fellow, Department of Competitiveness and Social Development, German Development Institute, Bonn)
Esther visited the RBI Endowment Unit to collaborate with RBI Chair Prof. Hari K. Nagarajan on the planning of the Economic Profile of Rural Households in India (EPRI) survey. During her visit, she also intended to explore research possibilities pertaining to MGNREGS implementation, and potential spillovers due to participation in work activities under MGNREGS.

Margaret was at IRMA to present her research on ‘The impact of ecological imbalances in the high Himalayas’.
Professor Andrew Foster (Departments of Economics and Community Health, Brown University)
Prof. Foster was at the RBI Endowment Unit to discuss ongoing research on land fragmentation in rural India with Prof. Hari K. Nagarajan and also presented key aspects of his research on democratization of villages in India and their links to economic development. His talk briefly touched upon various issues, including an analysis of identity-based voting, corruption, and how to improve service provision for economic development.
