The 37thAnnual Convocation of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) was held in Tribhuvandas Patel Auditorium, NDDB, Anand at 11.00 a.m on Saturday, 28th April, 2018.
Padma Shri Dr. Abhay Bang Director, SEARCH, Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), was Chief Guest on the occasion.
The Chairman, Board of Governors, faculty, and graduating students of IRMA also took part in the Convocation procession.
IRMA's Director, Prof. Hitesh Bhatt, welcoming the Chief Guest along with the Board of Governors, press, invitees, faculty, graduating students and their parents underscored some of the institute's highlights for the academic year.
"It is a great privilege for me to address this impressive gathering on this occasion," he said emphasizing that the "three main activities of IRMA are teaching, training, and consulting and research. "
Prof. Bhatt spoke of IRMA's alumni with pride saying "looking at their achievements in practically every sector conceivable I get the sense that the walls and corridors of this great institution are inspired with their spirit."
Touching upon placements he emphasized that "This year's placements witnessed a considerable jump in the number of job offers compared to the previous year....As an indication of the increased engagement of business as well as development sector organizations with the rural sector, IRMA received 315 job offers from 114 recruiters for the batch."
Shri Dilip Rath, Chairman, IRMA echoing similar sentiments exhorted students to "be the change you wish to see...." Sharing his thoughts with the graduating students he said, "it is gratifying to see such a large batch placed in such diverse sectors." He congratulated IRMA's faculty and staff "for projecting the institution to such a large cross section of sectors...."
The Chief Guest, Dr. Bang, inspired the graduating batch of students with the words, "You are the masters of your life, when you go out you have bigger challenges to tackle but", he stressed, "you have more resources to solve those problems.... you are entering the world with bigger possibilities." He advised the students to "go where the problems are, not where the facilities are."
During the Convocation, 177 students were awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM) and one Fellow Programme in Rural Management (FPRM). The prestigious Vasanthi Memorial Gold Medal was awarded to Arpan Bajpeyi, topper of the 37th batch of PGDRM.
