Institute of Rural Management Anand through Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence (VKCoE) co-organized International Programme on Dairy Development through Cooperative Business Model with NDDB and Centre for International Cooperation & Training in Agricultural Banking - Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (CICTAB-VAMNICOM) from 10th –13th December 2018.
The programme saw participation from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka with 18 representatives from Nepal, two from Sri Lanka and one from India.
Prof Hitesh Bhatt, Director, IRMA, interacted with the participants during the inaugural session of the four-day programme.
The programme involved classroom lectures on the cooperative business model for dairy industry, innovations in dairy cooperative, project financing, technology and a 3-E/Win-Win exercise to maximise value, that sought to develop understanding through experiential learning.
Apart from classroom segments, the programme also included exposure visits to AMUL cattle feed plant, Kaira Milk Union, Centre for Analysis & Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF), IDMC, etc.
Shri Sangram Chaudhary, Executive Director, NDDB interacted with the participants on the last day of the programme. Shri Y Y Patil, Executive Director, NDDB and Shri R S Sodhi, MD, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) graced the valedictory session of the programme as Chief Guests.
In his address, Shri Sodhi shared with the participants three important reasons for the success of GCMMF; political and professional leadership by Late Shri Tribhuvandas Patel and Late Dr. Verghese Kurien, the use of latest technology and the presence of market linkage. He implored the participants to strengthen these three aspects in their respective countries in order to benefit from the training programme.
Also present at the valedictory session were Dr. K. K. Tripathi, IES, Director, VAMNICOM, Shri Ashok Kumar Gupta, Group Head (Cooperative Training), NDDB, Dr. D Ravi, CICTAB and Prof Harekrishna Misra, Chair Professor, VKCoE.
