IRMA Alumni Meet and Faculty Interaction in Bengaluru

A faculty-alumni get-together was organized in Bengaluru on 26th May 2019.

Gracing the event were eminent faculty members from the early days of IRMA - Prof KRS Murthy, Prof M J Arul, Prof R. Rajagopalan and Prof C Balaji. The event saw participation from 45 alumni from across batches.

The event started with felicitation of the former faculty members by Prof Hitesh Bhatt, Director - IRMA. It was followed by a welcome address by Mr. Vijaynidhi, an alumnus of the 8th batch of the flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM). Mr. Vijaynidhi regaled the audience with anecdotes of his batch’s experiences with the faculty members.

Prof KRS Murthy shared his experience of working with Dr. Verghese Kurien and his journey of becoming the first Director of IRMA. He also shared how the curriculum of PGDRM took shape, blending the field segments with classroom terms and shaping what’s now the most unique outside-the-classroom segment in management education anywhere in the country, the Village Fieldwork Segment (VFS).

Prof Hitesh Bhatt shared the recent developments at IRMA and his vision for the Institute with those present. He said that IRMA’s success as a management institute was made possible by the efforts of the iconic faculty members present during its formative years. He went on to explain how the faculty members laid a solid foundation to IRMA’s academic rigour and inspired several generations of IRMAns.

The faculty interaction was followed by high tea.

All the former faculty members were presented with their caricatures created by Ms. Tejaswi Kancherla, an alumna of the 36th batch of PGDRM.
