• Profile Summary

  Dr. H. S. Shylendra holds a Ph. D in Economics and is a Professor in the Social Science area at the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), Gujarat. His areas of interest in  teaching and research  include rural development, rural management,  livelihoods, gender, panchayats,  governance, cooperatives, and natural resources. He has  over  30 years of experience combining research, teaching, training, and academic administration. He has participated in several research and consulting assignments on varied themes for central and state governments and donor agencies. His recent  studies include the impact evaluation of  SSNNL irrigation, the impact of  NRLM, Case studies of SHG Federations, and Skill-Gap Assessment.    Dr Shylendra has been part of  several policy groups. He was the Chairman of the Standing working group on local institutions of the Chhattisgarh Planning Commission(2016), a member of the Expert Committee of RBI on Credit Cooperatives (2012), a member of the Taskforce on Credit Related Issues of Farmers of the Ministry of Agriculture (2009), and member of the Working Group of Insolvency Board of India (2018). He has served on the governing board of many universities and development organisations, as well as being the president of the IRMA Staff Cooperative.   Dr. Shylendra was awarded the Dr. S.R. Sen Prize by the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics for Best Book on Agricultural Economics and Rural Development for his work `Diversification and Sustainable Rural Livelihood’ in 2012. He has a few books, monographs, and articles in his areas of interest to his credit.
