Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) successfully conducted the Summer Internship Segment (SIS) placements between April 29 and May 02, 2019. The 39th batch of 234 students of the flagship PRM programme (Programme in Rural Management) was placed in four days’ time through the campus interviews.
The average stipend offered by the corporate sector organizations stands at Rs. 64,587 and that for the development sector organizations (NGOs, Cooperatives, and Government Development Agencies) stands at Rs. 51,202. The median stipend stands at Rs. 40,000. The maximum stipend for the batch stands at Rs. 2.20 lakhs.
This year’s interviews experienced a substantial increase in the number of overall offers received compared to the last year. As an indication of the increased engagement of business as well as development sector organizations with rural, we received 562 internship offers from 147 recruiters for the batch.
GCMMF (Amul) was the largest recruiter with 29 offers. Verka (Punjab MilkFed), Aavin (Tamil Nadu MilkFed) and International Cooperative Alliance – Asia Pacific were some of the recruiters from the cooperative sector. The major development sector recruiters were BAIF, Precision Agriculture for Development, IWMI and Tata Trusts. Multinational and national agribusiness corporations such as ITC Agribusiness Division, Godrej Agrovet, National Bulk Handling Corporation, Adani Wilmar, etc., participated in the internship interviews. From the FMCG and Retail sector, Future Group, Grofers, Big Basket, Metro Cash & Carry, etc., recruited from IRMA. Banking, finance, and insurance companies such as Fullerton, Caspian Impact Investments, Fincare, and several other small finance banks recruited for the summer internship this year.
