Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) organized TEDxIRMA on 9th September, 2018. The event centered on the theme of ‘Reimagining Rural’ with an idea to give special emphasis to innovation in rural India.
9th September also marked the sixth death anniversary of the Institute’s founder Dr. Verghese Kurien, fondly known as the Milkman of India.

An IRMA alumnus of the 13th batch of the Programme in Rural Management (PRM), he is an award-winning business journalist with more than two decades of experience in India, Singapore, and Hong Kong. He is currently a Gladfly Columnist at Bloomberg LP. His versatility took him from finance to business journalism.
- Praveen Morchhale, National Award-winning Film-Maker
An alumnus of IRMA, Praveen started his directorial journey with the film "Barefoot to Goa" that was released to nationwide critical acclaim. His second film "Walking With The Wind" won three National Film Awards. His work is deeply entrenched in the values and heritage of rural India and echoes his connection with IRMA.
- Rohit Bansal, Head of Communications, Reliance Industries
Rohit Bansal is a reputed media leader, influencer and a popular TEDx speaker. He is a Distinguished Fellow at the Observer Research Foundation (Asia’s highest rated think tank from India), a fellow at the Institute of Competitiveness (a knot of Prof Michael E Porter’s work at Harvard) and a Mentor at JioGenNext, a startup accelerator incubated by RIL.
- Nitin Puri, Senior President & Country Head FASAR at Yes Bank
Nitin graduated in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra. He followed it up with a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Management from Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA) and an Advanced Management Program in Agribusiness from Cornell University. Prior to his laudatory work with YES BANK, he has also worked in senior management positions with organizations like ITC, Aditya Birla Nuvo, MCX & Reliance Retail.
TED is a non-profit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks which has created a program called TEDx, where “x” stands for an independently organized event. TEDxIRMA was the successful culmination of the efforts and hard-work of the students of IRMA who were supported by the Institute and the rich alumni community.
